Multiplayer game / Project story
MochiMachii
A playful world. A serious real-time problem.
A browser-based multiplayer game with character-driven combat, floating arenas and the Phoenix War game mode.
01
The idea
Bring expressive characters and fast, social arena play to the browser. The hard part is keeping movement, impacts and shared game state coherent between every player in the room.
02
Under the surface
Authoritative WebSocket rooms run on Cloudflare Durable Objects. Inputs are sequenced, the client predicts and reconciles, and remote players are drawn with snapshot interpolation.
03
Development focus
Movement, dash and bomb interactions, collision behaviour, character animation, room lifecycle and performance tuning.
04
A useful engineering lesson
“A high frame rate does not guarantee smooth motion.”
Rendering, fixed simulation steps and network snapshots all run on different clocks. Separating visual presentation from authoritative physics makes each of them easier to reason about.
