The idea
Bring expressive characters and fast, social arena play into the browser. The challenge is not only rendering a lively world, but making movement, impacts and shared game state feel coherent between players.
Under the surface
The project’s implementation report describes authoritative WebSocket rooms backed by Cloudflare Durable Objects, sequenced inputs, client prediction and reconciliation. Remote players use snapshot interpolation rather than jumping to the latest network position.
Development focus
Gameplay and presentation span movement, dash and bomb interactions, collision behaviour, character animation, room lifecycle and performance tuning. The engineering focus connects frame-by-frame visual continuity with the network simulation underneath it.
A useful engineering lesson
A high frame rate does not guarantee smooth motion. Rendering, fixed simulation steps and network snapshots operate on different clocks. Separating visual presentation from authoritative physics makes those boundaries easier to reason about.
